Is Living Life as a Digital Nomad the New ‘IT’ Thing? Find Out How it Can Work For You!

A digital nomad is a term that is often bandied about today as more and more people are opting of working from anywhere. Digital nomads are people who travel to different locations regularly. They not only use modern technology but they can work from anywhere, right from coffee shops, hotels, co-working spaces, to libraries. Of course, WiFi -connected laptops or smartphones can turn any place in the world into a workplace.

There are many types of digital nomads in the world today. While some people travel in their own country, either by a campervan or an RV, some may lead exciting lives on sailboats from different ports of call. Others stay in backpacker hostels or rent Airbnb apartments while catching a plane from one country to another. So, should you embrace a digital life or not? Here are some upsides that you should enjoy. After all, who would not want to check off destinations on their bucket list while working? Frankly, no one! So, here are some of the benefits that you must explore keep in consideration when opting for the life of a digital nomad.

Who wants a cubicle or office if you can work from anywhere? While sometimes working with your colleagues can inspire and invigorate you, working in an office, sitting in a sterile and uninspiring atmosphere, every single day can make you feel uninspired and listless.

The lifestyle of a digital nomad helps you enjoy the freedom to work in a certain environment and change the scenario whenever you like. Inspiration can come from nature, right from the mountain backdrop to tropical beach scenery, or whatever that can amp up your creativity levels. As per a recent survey, 92% of all digital nomads, asked to rate their nomadic life, said that they were happier as they were not tied to a physical workplace.

Running from one meeting room to the next can turn out to be pretty stressful. Perks of a being digital nomad is that nobody will disturb your peace by yelling around you or ask you to clean the dishwasher. You can create a working environment that can help you to enjoy work and be more productive at it.

Saving time in commuting can really help you. Getting at least 30 minutes of spare time in the afternoon or the evening can do a world of good for you. You can invest that same time in self-care hacks. Leading the nomadic way of life can help you avoid traffic jams, which is a great thing. This can also help you save money on gas or public transport.

One of the best perks of being a digital nomad is that you can wear whatever your heart desires.  You do not have to dress up for a formal working environment. Showing up in proper business attire can be taxing for anyone, while everyone has this idea in their head that they would flaunt their corporate look in sharp business suits like in the show Suits . However, it seems tough to always look razor-sharp in corporate wear.

Also, splurging on expensive suits is not a good idea. Imagine having to stay in fitted office gear during the better part of the day, it sounds tiring and hectic. You may rather choose flip-flops and shorts any day the formal dressing. Also, bad makeup or bad hair days won’t make much of a difference. You can wear whatever you want and nobody is going to tell you that you are making a fashion faux pas.

Another great reason to be a digital nomad is that you do not need to maintain the 9-to-5 schedule anymore, especially if you don’t want to. If you are not a morning person, you may start working later. Do you want to take a long break at your lunchtime to meet a friend? No problem, you can do that and can finish work later. Do what suits you and that’s the best part of being a digital nomad. You are not bound by any schedule.

Digital nomad life is the new norm and one should certainly embrace it to get the best out of work-life balance.
